THE YOUTH LEGISLATIVE CAUCUS MUST CHAMPION A BOLD LEGISLATIVE YOUTH AGENDA

By Federation of Liberia Youth
The Youth Legislative Caucus Must Champion a Bold Legislative Youth Agenda

FLY urges the Youth Legislative Caucus to champion bold reforms that advance youth employment, entrepreneurship, education, and national development.

As the 55th Legislature begins its Third Quarter Session, the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) is calling on the Youth Legislative Caucus to champion an ambitious and forward looking legislative agenda that responds to the aspirations of young Liberians and advances their role in national development.

FLY believes that the Caucus represents an important opportunity to connect the voices of young people with the lawmaking process. As an initiative established to strengthen youth representation within the Legislature, the Caucus can help transform young people's concerns into policies, legislation, and reforms that create lasting national impact.

At the heart of this agenda must be the challenge of youth unemployment. FLY encourages the Caucus to prioritize legislative initiatives that expand access to decent jobs, strengthen technical and vocational education, promote entrepreneurship, and improve young people's access to financing and economic opportunities. Liberia's development will depend significantly on its ability to equip young people with the skills, resources, and opportunities to contribute productively to the economy.

FLY also calls for stronger legislative action to advance youth participation in governance, improve education and skills development, promote digital innovation, and ensure that public policies reflect the realities of young people across all fifteen counties. Through constructive engagement with FLY, youth organizations, and other stakeholders, the Caucus can help build a legislative agenda that is inclusive, responsive, and grounded in the priorities of young Liberians.

The Federation of Liberian Youth looks forward to working with the Youth Legislative Caucus to identify priority reforms, strengthen engagement between young people and lawmakers, and promote meaningful collaboration on issues affecting the next generation. Such a partnership can help establish a more consistent channel through which youth concerns inform legislative debate, policy development, and public accountability.

As the Third Quarter Session gets underway, FLY encourages members of the Caucus to use their positions to advance bold ideas, build consensus around youth centered reforms, and support practical solutions to the challenges facing young Liberians. This is an opportunity to demonstrate how youth representation can contribute directly to national progress.

FLY remains committed to working with the Youth Legislative Caucus and other national institutions to advance a legislative agenda that places young people at the center of Liberia's development.
